Lady In Blue
This is a T-shirt I had done sometime ago. But I was reviewing some of my past work, and I see in this painting there are some characteristics that I would like to carry on within my body of work. I was trying out some new ideas, of painting techniques and experimenting with different mediums. It was cool and I had a great time....Monday, October 26, 2009
This is my first post. I have been a member for a while, but have never posted. I am an aspiring animator and illustrator. I am inspired all the time by work I see here. I am currently working on an animated short and illustrating a children book.

Here goes my first post
Hello everyone,
I recently joined the autumn society and figured a self introduction is past due. My name is Inci. I was born and raised in Turkey. Currently I'm media arts and animation student at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. I am concentrating on 3D animation but I try to paint as much as I can. Here are some of my works. These are done in photoshop.

Mitri the Balloon Boy
Hey everyone! The latest cartoon in my ongoing series, Geoweasel, just came out today and I thought I'd share it with you all. It's about the most-talked about topic since last Thursday, the Balloon Boy hoax. This, however, is not a hoax! This is to make up for the time you spent watching that thing fly around believing there was really a kid inside. Enjoy!

"Sugar Rush" Series

Hey Everyone! Sorry it's been some time since my last post. The pieces above were recently designed as a series of mouth portraits. Inspired by a page in my anatomy studies sketch book, I decided to switch gears and focus in on female lips. And what better to go along with a nice pair of lips then a sugar coated dessert.

Happy 70th birthday Harvey Pekar!!
I was coming home on the train today reading "American Splendor" and I started reading one of the stories that began with Harvey stating that October 8th was his birthday.
I thought, "wait a second. TODAY IS OCTOBER 8TH!! IT'S HARVEY'S BIRTHDAY!!"
I drew this tonight as a tribute to one of my heroes, Harvey Pekar.

New Stuff! Band Posters!

I'm a grouch by nature, and it tends to be a good thing from time to time. In this case, I was grouchy about the state... of gig posters.
What do I mean?
More and more, it seems that too many people are content with either a flat color, a non-nonsensical poorly drawn image, and the important info made as small as possible. In the end, the only difference between the more modern style and the older is crappy pastels and really small information.
On top of that, metal bands coming to or playing in Philadelphia never seem to get any respect. While some band you and I may have never heard of sells out a show, a respectable and well-known metal band can't even fill up a a place to half-capacity. I blame it on lack of promotion and, you guessed it, crappy gig posters.
So I wanted to buck the trend. I independently illustrated, designed, and distributed these flyers myself. You may see them around at music stores around Center City.
That's about it! I hope you enjoy them and you can come out to the shows! Will there be more? I hope so! In case you haven't, check out my blog and you can see the larger versions there!

CityPaper Anarchist Cover

LAST MINUTE COVER!!! An Anarchist magazine found its way into the cover story of the current issue, and no-one wanted their photos taken. I tried my best to create a cover using a method similar to the way cheap anarchist mags and band flyers are made, utilizing the photocopier to distress photos and text. From that point, I digitized each copy and added color and type from the actual stories in the anarchist mag.
This was one of those projects I could keep making more and more concepts for. But, with time as a limit, only a few were finalized. This one kinda reminds me of the Chinese Box Cover I did a while back. I enjoyed this one, sorry to see it go, but I am very happy with the way it turned out.
Check my website for the other comps and a ton of other stuff.

Greetings from jasonsartblog!
the fantastic faux: art by jason quinones/ pencil/sharpie and micron pens/illustrator my name is jason quinones and i was recently invited to join up with you guys and am proud to be a part of this extremely talented group.
i'm from Queens NY, a graduate of the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art and have been a working professional cartoonist/illustrator/graphic artist for well over 10 years now.
i work with a combination of tools, preferring to draw traditionally with pencil and paper, ink with a brush and or various pens, and then scanning in the finished inked artwork to color in Illustrator or Photoshop. (i usually prefer Illustrator.)
although i try not to, if i had to categorize myself to any specific style, i'd say that it is definitely more "cartoony".
to pay the bills, i'm currently employed as a full time graphic artist in the fashion industry, producing artwork for newborn/infant toddler, boys and girls t-shirts and outerwear.
this t-shirt i made pretty much sums up how i feel about the job.
in the past, i've had short lived (but successful) freelance assignments for vastly different publications, ranging from a children's book spot illustration job for Scholastic (about 40 or so B&W spot illos in all) to several cover illustration jobs for Al Goldstein's Screw magazine. my artwork has also been featured on the websites thevsproject.com and artjumble.blogspot.com. most notably on artjumble is my 7 page web comic, P.S. 666, which can be seen in it's entirety by clicking on the comic jumble launch tab on the top right hand side of the artjumble blog.
my artwork in also featured on my own blog: jasonsartblog.blogspot.com
sorry for rambling. thanks for reading. hope ya like the artwork.

Warm greetings, from a madman.
Greetings all society members! Allow me to introduce myself. I am Andrew Stiles, Illustrator and all around jack of a greet many trades. I've been a member for quite some time but haven't posted for various terrible reasons. So as a big greeting I'm posting some of the photo documentation of a sculpture i built for the 8-Bit and Beyond show. Since I have a somewhat strong aversion to things construed as "fan art" this piece is a parody of a Robert Rauschenberg sculpture. His is called the Coca -Cola Plan. A different sort of fan art. I reworked it to relate to the game Fallout 3. Like the original i have place a map at the top panel but this is a map of a level of the game. The charred teddy bear, like many you find in the game has a large key in its back which, when wound, play the teddy bears' picnic. Creepy huh. I wired LED lights so the bottles would glow like a certain irradiated drink in the game. So therefore it is called the NUKA-cola plan.

I hope to get some better photos of it soon.

I hope to get some better photos of it soon.
introducing myself
Hi there. First off, everyone's doing really great work. I'm really enjoying everyone's updates.
I've been a member of this blog for a while and just haven't really done anything that I was proud enough of to post. But I figured I needed to announce my presence, at least. So here is something I've artified. Comments are appreciated, just as long as they're constructive.

(above:) A detailed bit of art featuring the two main characters of the webcomic I do with a really funny, super awesome guy named Ian Borgstrom.
I'm entirely capable of drawing from life and making my work look like a photo of the world, but what I'm trying to do now that I've graduated college is find my own style. So I'm always looking for constructive feedback from artists who understand that making art look exactly like the subject isn't necessarily all that important. Since so many of you awesome folks have your own really unique and visually captivating styles, I figured it was time to solicit some of your advice.
[EDIT:] and oh yea, more of my work can be found here.

new piece and show

"beautiful." just finished this a couple days ago, I've been in a bit of an art funk lately. But this was a fun thing to do, mess around with really meticulous detail.

Also, if any of you are in the Mid-Michigan area my band, "V." has a show coming up...tomorrow Tuesday, August 11th. Local bands/musicians that are playing are Newday Dreamers, Travis Faber, and Christian Ross. The show is free, at 7 PM at the KAYA coffee shop, and in Mount Pleasant, Michigan if you're interested in going.
Have a fluffy day.

Now You're Playing With POWER!
WOW! My first post! AWESOME!
Well, I basically just joined the Autumn Society not too long ago, and learning the theme for this was actually incredibly intimidating. The first thing that came to mind was "I-Am 8-Bit", one of the most impressive collections of video-game based art in the world. Its amazing how far we've come from drawing on envelopes and sending them in the mail and hoping and praying that EGM or Nintendo Power would publish them, haven't we?
So, my submission was inspired by a lot of things: First, I love drawing women. Second, I love pop art. And finally, I loved how awesome it was to see graphic design from the 80's when it was done right. A first for me is the fact that this is actually kinda high-concept, with the emphasis not so much on the games as it was a culture and ideal around them. I always thought the NES Zapper was one of the coolest guns ever.
Well, enjoy!

And feel free to check out the rest of my art at my website, Larry West Productions!
Thanks to everyone for posting their stuff, it really has inspired me! :)

The Sky Is Falling!
When I first heard that the theme for the next Autumn Society show was video games, my mind went crazy with ideas. I was raised on the Nintendo and video games have always been a big part of my life, so I had no idea what I should do for my piece. But one day earlier in the month while playing Super Mario Bros. 3, I remembered how the Angry Sun used to creep me out as a kid, and it also reminded me of how when I got older, the moon from Majora's Mask did the same, and I realized how similar the two were. I figured it would be interesting to mash the two concepts together. Hope to see you at the gallery opening! Enjoy!-Niko

Super Metroid
Hey!
Collie Mills and I are working on a piece together for the 8 bit and beyond show. Here are 2 sketches we're working out. They are based on the events right after Metroid 2 and right before Super Metroid in which Samus has the baby Metroid but Ridley is about to steal it away. The Metroid has to be added in.

Happy 4th of July!
Unfortunately, I don't have any new work for 4th of July this year, but here's a short 30-second cartoon I made for it back in 2006 featuring now-irrelevant references to New Jersey politics. Whatever. Have a good holiday everyone!
Classic Amercian, Feminist, Symbol
So I've never posted, but here I go.
I'm a tattoo artist by profession, but would like to get into more painting and potentially illustration.
This is the piece I have up in the Golden Age show. Looks like my title was too risque so... here's my wonder woman piece.
I was so impressed by everything up in the show! Everyone created such awesome pieces. I was so stoked to see everyone's takes on the golden age theme. It's a pleasure for me to have this hanging up there.
Hopefully I'll be creating/posting more off-the-body art in the future.

Summertime
I know it just really started, but I hope everyone's having a good summer! I did this piece a couple weeks ago, and even though it's pretty simple, I'm thinking of making a print of it.Also, I'll be heading over to Brave New Worlds tomorrow to check out the 80s Pop Show gallery, so if you see me, say hi! You'll know who I am; I wear an obnoxious checkered hat.
